Yoga Meditation - Ahymn

Transcendental Names

The enjoyable practice of yoga meditation involves the use of yoga mantras. Mantras are transcendental sounds, they come from the spiritual realm and contain spiritual potency. Just by coming into contact with these sounds we are benefited spiritually. To our ears these sounds may seem the same, but the difference is that transcendental sound carries with it a potency that is not present in material sound. This potency, is the ability to touch and purify the heart of every living being. The word transcendental means beyond the influence of matter. Within every living body is a spirit soul. When a spirit soul comes into contact with spiritual sound, that person is benefited regardless of the body they are in. To expose ourselves and others to spiritual sound vibrations truly is the ultimate in humanitarian effort. Without discrimination or exception everyone benefits.
"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
- Old Testament, Joel 2:32

Bette Calman 83 year old yogini still going strong - Australia Yoga Palm Beach 4221

Check this out.

Bette Calman is an 83 year old practising yogini from Australia.

She has been teaching yoga for over 40 years and can do poses that I can’t do. She still teaches 11 classes a week!

Bette says that she is able to do more today than she was able to do 50 years ago. She has become more flexible and grown into poses she couldn’t do.

To quote Bette, “You’re never too old. The body is a remarkable instrument. It can stretch and stretch, and get better all the time. Forget age.”

Hmmmm... well I don't know too many in this age bracket who are still rocking hatha yoga in the same way.  Come to think of it ... I don't know anyone. I do know that Hatha Yoga is a great form of exercise benefiting all of the body systems. A yoga teacher can design each class to suit all levels.

Yoga is an ancient philosophy that dates back thousands of years. It was designed as a path to spiritual enlightenment, but in modern times, the physical aspects of Hatha yoga have found huge popularity as a gentle form of exercise and stress management. There are many different varieties of yoga, each one structured around poses (asanas) and the conscious use of the breath.

Benefits include:

Cardiovascular system (heart and arteries) ... asanas are isometric, which means they rely on holding muscle tension for a short period of time. This improves cardiovascular fitness and circulation.

Digestive system ... improved blood circulation and the massaging effect of surrounding muscles speeds up a sluggish digestion.

Musculo-skeletal ... joints are moved through their full range of motion, which encourages mobility and eases pressure. The gentle stretching releases muscle tension and increases flexibility. Maintaining many of the asanas encourages strength and endurance. Weight-bearing asanas may help prevent osteoporosis, and may also help those already diagnosed with osteoporosis, practiced with care, under the supervision of a qualified yoga teacher.

Nervous system ... improved blood circulation, easing of muscle tension and the act of focusing the mind on the breath all combine to soothe the nervous system. Long-term benefits include reduced stress and anxiety levels, and increased feelings of calm and wellbeing.

Kindness - Australia Yoga Meditation 4221

Kindness is not just an ethical behavior; it is also a healthy one. Being kind to others will make you healthier and happier. Research shows that unhappy people can mimic the kind behaviors of happier people and become happier themselves as a result. Nature has wired our brains to reward us for good behavior. This makes sense because kind behaviors benefit all of humanity.

Kindness Helps Everyone
Kindness helps the giver, receiver and the witness to kindness. Being involved in an act of kindness, even passively, will increase the levels of serotonin (a neurotransmitter than improves mood) in your brain. This chemical reaction can be compared to runners high and is sometimes called "helpers high".

Size Does Not Matter
Whether the act of altruism is large or small does not matter. The brain responds to any act of goodness with a rush of endorphin-fueled euphoria followed by a period of long-lasting serenity. The same brain chemicals that cause these good feelings also reduce pain, benefiting those who suffer from chronic conditions like fibromyalgia.

Fake It
It also does not matter if the act is genuine or feigned. Smiling is a good example of this. Even smiling by yourself, when no one else is there to receive it will physically change the chemical makeup of your brain and boost your mood. Just watching a movie displaying kind behaviors can give you the health benefits of kindness.

Better Health
All of these good feelings have a positive affect on your overall well-being. The positive emotions you feel because of being kind will reverse feelings of depression, isolation and hostility. The result is less stress and a healthier immune system. Your body will be better able to recover from illnesses like ulcers, stress-related asthma, fatigue and insomnia.
There are many things you can do to benefit from kindness:

  1. Smile
  2. Watch a move displaying kindness
  3. Give compliments
  4. Be positive
  5. Hold the door for a stranger
  6. Give up your place in line
  7. Give blood
  8. Volunteer
  9. Write a thank you note
  10. Smile at strangers
  11. Say, "hello" and "have a nice day"

Because being kind is easy, there is no reason not to take advantage of this healthful behavior and the physical and emotional benefits it has to offer.

President Obama - Namaste hands - Australia Yoga Palm Beach

President Obama offering respects while on a
visit to India.

Most Hatha yoga teachers begin and or end their classes in this same way. Ideally, Namaste should be demonstrated both at the beginning and also at the end of class. This lovely practise is the perfect way to finish a yoga class. The mind is less active and the energy in the room is more peaceful.

The teacher initiates Namaste as a symbol of gratitude and respect toward the students and her own teachers and in return invites the students to connect with their lineage. The hands pressed together at the heart centre is known as Anjali Mudra or Namaste hands. The head is also bowed as a sign of respect and humility.

Namaste is also used as a greeting but It is more than a form of greeting it has a very special significance, a spiritual purpose and meaning.

Here's a nice explanation of the meaning of Namaste.

Namaste

The gesture Namaste simply acknowledges the truth that there is a Divine spark  within each of us. The gesture is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. Nama means bow, as means I, and te means you.  Therefore, mamaste literally means "bow me you" or "I bow to you."

In the West we greet people by shaking hands. Displaying a sense of goodwill and friendship in that way.

Different cultures use their own unique forms of greeting like, namaste or anjali mudra, shaking hands, what ever the form of communication or gesture maybe, when a person connects with another, their comfort level increases.

A greeting from a friend for instance, or a family member may bring back happy memories. Also, if we follow social psychology, we become aware of the many benefits that result in the body and mind when we feel accepted or understood by another person.

Even though one may think that a deep conversation can have these effects, the simple truth is that a gesture like namaste, a hand shake or even more so a hug creates those feelings of acceptance and compassion that can sometimes be difficult to find in our modern world.

Thus, when we experience these things, we become more relaxed, happier, our attitude tends to improve. As a direct result of these things, our heart rate becomes more relaxed and over a period of time, lower heart rates and increased time spent being happy can actually lower blood pressure and have a very beneficial effect on heart health.

Delicious Raw Crumble - Australia Yoga Palm Beach Gold Coast

Delicious Raw Raspberry Crumble with
Cashew Vanilla Cream Topping
*
I followed this delicious raw food recipe from alkalinesisters.com I added slices of banana to the raspberries. Their information, photo's and presentation is gorgeous as you can see. Try this recipe it is quick to make and packed full of nutrition.

The raspberries are full of antioxidants and are naturally low in sugar thus a minimal impact on blood sugars.  They are a good source of manganese, potassium, copper, vitamins B & C, and an excellent source of fiber.  Raspberries have almost 50% higher antioxidant activity than strawberries, three times that of kiwis, and ten times the antioxidant activity of tomatoes.

The variety of nuts in this recipe offer a wide variety of essential minerals including magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, and manganese.  They also contain fiber, iron, potassium, phosphorus, vitamin E and manganese.  They are an excellent source of protein and are rich in monounsaturated fatty acids like oleic acid and an excellent source of antioxidants. Regular intake of raw nuts in the diet are a healthy fat food for heart patients. And because of their high levels of monounsaturated fatty acids, they also help support healthy levels of low good (HDL) cholesterol.

Soaking nuts increases their nutritional value as the nut sprouts and comes alive providing your body with living energy.  Soaking also allows your body to  absorb the nutrients more easily.  However in this recipe, except for the cashews, I have not soaked the nuts in order to achieve a dry crumbly mixture versus a softy doughy mixture but…. you could also try this.  Soak nuts for 1-2 hours or over night, drain, rinse, process in food processor and then dehydrate for a few hours til dry and crumbly.  This is the ultimate way to make this recipe but there is much more prep time required which of course is worth the time if you are organized to do so.  This recipe is also gluten free, an added bonus of using raw nuts versus oats with flour for the crumble.

The dried dates are a also good source of potassium, iron, magnesium, copper, manganese, and B vitamins.  They are low in fats and cholesterol and high in dietary fiber and carbohydrates.  Though their sugar content is high 63.4 grams/100 grams,  it is still considered a healthy snack, owing to its plentiful vitamin content.  However, I highly recommend consuming natural sugars in moderation and explain in further detail after the recipe in this post on raw tarts.

Raw Raspberry Crumble

Yield: up to 8 servings

1/2 cup each of raw almonds, pecans, Brazil nuts for a total of 1 1/2 cups of raw nuts
6 soft dried dates
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup cashews, soaked 10-20 mins
1/2 cup filtered water
1/2 tsp pure vanilla, preferably alcohol free
2 tsp maple syrup
3/4 c fresh raspberries per person, gently crushed

Method

For the crumble: yield 1 1/2 cups crumble

Place the almonds, pecans, Brazil nuts in food processor and process until finely ground.  Add dates and cinnamon and process until dates are thoroughly mixed in.  Set aside.  This crumble keeps well if chilled.
For the Vanilla Sauce
Place cashews, water, lemon juice & maple syrup in blender and blend until creamy and very smooth.  Pour into creamer for serving.  This cream keeps for up 2 days if chilled.

To serve
Crush the berries right before serving and spoon into individual dishes, top with two tablespoons or more of the crumble mixture, garnish with a couple fresh whole berries and drizzle with vanilla sauce.  Enjoy!

Holistic yoga meditation 4221 likes this quote.

This reminds me of:

Matthew 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

It is often the case that we look outward to find fault in others without first examing our own character.

All saintly persons recommend working on ourselves and our own faults, not worrying about the so-called 'faults' of others. We should instead try to be the best person that we can possibly be and use the propensity to judge and find fault on ourselves.

A side benefit of the simple and enjoyable practice of yoga meditation is that the tendency to see and work on ones own faults - leaving fault finding of others aside, happens naturally over time.

If you would like to experience the profound and lasting effects of yoga meditation contact us and come along to a holistic yoga meditation class, or any of our other yoga meditation classes.

All welcome.

Australian holistic yoga meditation 4221 palm beach likes this quote

Australian holistic yoga meditation has commented about greed and what drives a person to over consume a couple of posts back, so won't comment any further on that right now.

Suffice it to say that we all recognise good qualities such as generosity, kindness and understanding. Isn't it great to be reminded of such goodness by quotes like this one.

One of the side benefits of practicing yoga meditation is that yoga meditations cleanse the heart and mind of the practitioner, gradually bringing forth insights which inspire a person to make changes for the better. Yoga meditation increases good qualities and diminishes anger, greed and so on.

I am sure you would agree with me when I say that we could all find room for improvement in ourselves, we could all be a little kinder, more patient and tolerant.

If you would like to start practicing holistic yoga meditation and experience the benefits for yourself be sure to contact us for a yoga meditation class, or join us for holistic yoga stretch, or holistic yoga relaxation.

Yoga meditation 4221 palm beach gold coast qld 4221 has another yoga meditation video to share with you. I hope you like it. I was talking to a friend the other day. We were sharing health and fitness experiences. My friend was saying that they really enjoyed exercising because the endorphins released as a result of working out, swimming, biking, or running was a very real and positive experience. Kind of like a 'natural high' which amongst other positives, kept depression at bay.

I have been thinking about our little chat over the last couple of days and thought I would share this with you.

We the eternal spirit person within this 'earth body' are pleasure seeking by nature, we want to be happy. Happiness is the natural condition of the soul. In our original condition we are blissful by nature, so it is natural for us to always be searching for happiness and joy in life.

We look here and there, seeking to fill an emptiness deep within. The only problem is, we mistakenly 'think' we are this 'earth body' and consequently believe that union with sense objects will fill the empty void within. We do not recognise that the craving we feel is a spiritual craving.

It is very fortunate for us that we have a very simple way of satisfying this spiritual craving. The solution is the practice of yoga meditation which is a timeless technique that has been practiced through out the ages. It is a very enjoyable form of meditation, that anyone and everyone can take part in.

It is often a group experience, practiced as a singing meditation. In the group meditation to music there is usually a leader who sings the meditation first and then the group responds. This ancient practice of yoga chanting re-connects us to the supreme source of pleasure.

The ancient vedic mantras most often used are a combination of the names of the Supreme Person who is the source of all joyfulness, happiness and bliss. There are no words to adequately describe  a group meditation to music session. It is something you would need to experience for yourself. It doesn't matter whether you meditate with a large group of people or a couple of people, or if you join in or simply listen - the result will be there.

Experience spiritual endorphins naturally by joining in with a yoga meditation to music group. Plug into the names of the Supreme and find shelter and relief from the heaviness of this world. Rest under the umbrella of sacred sound, the names will soothe your heart and gently clear your mind of shadow.

If yoga meditation to music is something  you might like to try contact australian holistic yoga meditation for more details.

Australian Holistic Yoga meditation 4221 Quote - Lord Buddha

The Vedas are very ancient writings. The word Veda means knowledge or science. The Vedas are widely accepted as authoritative guidelines on how we can live our lives wisely.

The Vedas actually say that we should ask ourselves this question - who am I? But, unfortunately, we almost never ask such a question, simply because we all think that we already know the answer. I mean we've all got our identities. We've had them all our life. The details we store in our minds, we even carry them in our pockets. Meaning, this is who I think I am, this is who I tell others I am, and I can prove it: here's is my passport, here's my documents. We accept it and so does everyone else.

But is this our true identity?

Australian holistic yoga meditation have classes where you can learn more if you wish.

Yoga meditation 4221 palm beach qld, kingscliff 2487 tweed coast likes this quote.

If we are very fortunate in life we may come across a universal scripture applicable to people of all temperaments and for all times.

If we are so lucky, we should grab such an opportunity and apply the guidance to our lives making sure not to waste the insights or blessings we receive. Grab hold of that vision and turn it into action. Make sure it does not disappear or fade away, as most day dreams do.

A lack of knowledge, understanding and vision have seen the advent of many a nightmare. For example, one war after another accompanied by many acts of cruelty and untold suffering. It would not be an understatement to say that, much sadness and misery have befallen the souls on this planet.

If we could be inspired by and hold onto the words of wisdom present in all divine scriptures whether it be the Holy Bible, Bhagavad Gita, or Quaran, that tell us we are not material energy, that we are not these earthly bodies but are instead spirit in essence. If we were able to live in the light of this truth - the world would be a very different place. Respect for 'life' regardless of body, race or creed would be there. The vision to see that in the truest sense we are all brothers and sisters, would be there. Appreciation and gratitude for the planet 'mother earth' and all living beings great or small would be there. One can only imagine what a difference, living that vision would make.

It may seem impossible, and maybe impossible - on a world scale, but each individual can change and make a change. A good place to start is with ourselves. We can make a difference.

There are practical tools available that we can utilise which can and will transform our way of thinking and the way that we behave.

If you think it's time for a change contact us, come to a holistic yoga meditation class and begin your transformation.

Yogameditation 4221 - Holistic Plant Based Living

There are many reasons to revisit the "Why be a vegetarian" ideology. You may have read some articles on why it is a good reason to switch to a plant based diet even if it's just for one day a week. These reasons include better health, better for the environment, better for spiritual reasons and obviously way better for the animals.

As compassionate human beings, we should ask ourselves this question: If I can stay fit and healthy by eating fruits, legumes, grains and nuts etc,. is it necessary, or does it make sense to kill animals?

In a vegetarian diet, the plant is not killed (when its leaves and fruits are picked.) If it is, the killing of a plant versus an animal can not realistically be compared since plants are not as neurologically developed as animals. Wise men implore us to think long and hard about our eating habits. There's room enough on this planet for all living beings to co-exist peacefully. Choose to be compassionate, see, respect and value all life.

Millions have lived and are happily living today on a vegetarian or vegan diet. For centuries perfect masters have been the fore runners of vegetarianism advocating non violence, 'thou shalt not kill'. It is true that one living entity is food for another. We must eat, if we don't we die - BUT why not eat low on the food chain.

There's so much publicity surrounding vegetarianism and the benefits a plant based diet has on the planet, our environment, our consciousness, health and hearts. If we are sincerely concerned about our planet and the legacy of our children and future generations we can be pro-active and do our little bit by switching to a plant based diet as a lifestyle choice or maybe choosing to go plant based at least one day a week.

- If every American decided to eat meat-free one day per week, it would be the same as taking 8 million cars off American roads.

- 1 person going vegetarian for 1 year reduces 3,267 pounds of CO2 emissions.

If you would like more in depth information, or would like to know what the ancient Vedic texts say in regards to this subject, contact Australian holistic yoga meditation for details.

Come to one of our holistic yoga meditation classes, find out how yoga stretch, relax, revive and rejuvenate can help you.  Discover how living a life in wisdom benefits all, including plants, insects, animals, the planet and the universe.

Friendship - Australian yoga Palm Beach 4221

Get by with a little help from our friends

You stand to gain a lot from having good friends, perhaps more than you might have thought. They might drive you crazy at times, but the benefits of having a reliable friend circle is unlike any other.  And now, a decade long study conducted by the Center for Aging Studies at Flinders University, Australia corroborates the above. The study involved about 1,500 elderly people and revealed that those who have a large network of friends tend to live longer by about 22% than those who have the least number of friends.

The reason for this trend can be the fact that good friends will always discourage you from acquiring bad habits like smoking or alcoholism. Also, good times spent in the company of your friends acts as a deterrent to disorders like depression or loneliness. On the other hand, they help boost your self-esteem and provide you with support when you need them most. With advancing age, people become more selective as far as their choice of friends is concerned and hence, spend more time with those whom they like.

Close family ties or an excellent relationship with children doesn’t seem to have any effect on the life expectancy of a person. Thus, though family ties are important, they don’t have much impact on longevity.

Health Benefits of Having Good Friends
In a study conducted at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, it was shown that people with a dependable network of friends and relatives were in a better position to deal with stress. The study showed that friends not only come in handy during adverse situations, they also chip in with material aid and information, apart from the much needed emotional support that is so very important for overcoming stress situations. Having good friends does have other benefits as well, like you tend to take better care of yourself in the company of your friends. An active friend circle also ensures you have better control over your lives and is never short on self-esteem.

On the other hand, those without a network of friends have a higher risk of succumbing to a heart attack. In fact, studies have even proved that you stand a better chance of preventing common cold if you have lots of friends around you. This, in spite of the fact that your exposure to viruses is greater when you spend more time with them.

Yoga Meditation Palm Beach 4221- Be a Light In The Darkness!

You may have heard the phrase "Kali Yuga" This is a term mentioned frequently in a wide array of authentic Vedic scriptures which can be found through out the world today.

The Vedic scriptures give a very detailed description of what the phrase "Kali Yuga" means. A brief description would be this; The age of quarrel, kaos and confusion.

In this age, the quest for Self realisation is fairly uncommon. A spiritual life style is not high on the list of priorities for the general population. Basically this age is becoming more and more like a 'God less' society.

There are a few who ask the question 'Is there more to life than this?' But compared to the world population, the percentage is low.

Often times this world has been referred to as a place of darkness, where as knowledge is frequently associated with the word light. Or darkness = ignorance and light = knowledge.

If you would like to learn more about self realisation, what it is, or how to move towards knowledge and or the light - be sure to contact us: Australian Holistic Yoga Meditation Palm Beach 4221 for class information and details.
